The Hands Behind Gul
Every piece at Gul starts with a person, a family, a village and a lifetime of practice.
We work with artisan families and small workshops across Kutch, Bagru and Rajasthan. We visit, we watch the work, we ask questions, and then we commission pieces worthy of what they know.
We're photographing the people we work with properly, with their permission, and their portraits and stories will appear here soon. Until then, here are the crafts and places behind Gul.
Ajrakh block printing — Kutch, Gujarat
Resist-printed with hand-carved wooden blocks and dyed in indigo and madder over many days. The craft behind our Ajrakh dupattas and stoles.
Suzani, Kantha and mirror-work embroidery — Gujarat & Rajasthan
Chain stitch, running stitch and hand-set mirrors, worked panel by panel. The craft behind our embroidered jackets and vests.
Leather craft — Rajasthan
Structured leather bags, cut, stitched and finished by hand. The craft behind our leather bags.
Block printing — Bagru, Rajasthan

Traditional Bagru printing with mud resist and natural dye on cotton.
When you buy from Gul, you're buying someone's life's work.
We think that deserves to be said out loud.
